General Management

Dr. Philipp Daumke
A physician and computer scientist, Philipp Daumke is one of the founders of Averbis GmbH. He has long years of experience in IT and the healthcare sector. In addition to his specific focuses, integration of information retrieval and medical terminology, Mr. Daumke possesses particular expertise in knowledge services for physicians and patients. His numerous articles and lectures on the subject of Medical Informatics reflect his internationally successful scientific contributions. He is laureate of the Johann Peter Süßmilch Medal 2007, endowed by the GMDS (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Medizinische Informatik), teh German society for medical informatics.
Dr. Kornél Markó
As a computer linguist and computer scientist, Kornél Markó has been working in the field of medical informatics for many years. His contributions on semantic search technologies have been distinguished internationally, document by his numerous publications and awards. Extensive experience in the planning, development and implementation of software solutions distinguish his career. The co-founder of Averbis GmbH heads the integration of Averbis products in existing IT systems and is your partner for product or technology partnerships.

Advisory Board

Prof. Dr. Stefan Schulz
is a university professor at the Institut for Medical Informatics, Statistics and Documentation of the Medizical University of Graz (Austria). His focuses are computer linguistics in medicine and formal approaches to biomedical knowledge representation using ontologies, as well as the processing of medical language. He is the author of numerous publications and has been awarded multiple distinctions for his scientific achievements.  As organizer of international scientific conferences and workshops, he is always optimally informed on current developments. Thanks to his expertise in SNOMED CT (Systematized Nomenclature of Medicine-Clinical Terms) and WHO classifications -he is the only German-speaking member of the Content Committee of the IHTSDO (International Health Terminology Standards Developement Organisation of the World Health Organisation), as well as member in the Joint Advisory Group of WHO and IHTSDO.
Prof. Dr. Udo Hahn
is head of the chair for computer linguistics at the University of Jena. For years he has specialized in the automatic processing of electronic texts. He is involved in numerous research projects, most recently as coordinator of the EU project BootStrep, which aims at the conception and realization of a text-comprehending system for biomedicine. The implementation of UIMA based components (Unstructured Information Management Architecture) plays a central role in his research team. The outstanding activities were recently honored with the Unstructured Information Analytics Award and the UIMA Innovation Award for Faculty (both IBM).
Prof. Dr. Rüdiger Klar
is among the co-founders of medical informatics in Germany. He played a formative roll as former president and vice-president of the Association for Medical Informatics, Biometry and Epidemiology. He was a member in the program committee of diverse international congresses, as well as expert evaluator for the Federal Health and Federal Research Ministries, the Robert Koch Institute, the Curatorship for Issues of Classification in the Health Sector at the Federal Health Ministry, the German Research Association, die Volkswagen Foundation, the Steinbeis Transfer Center and the Federal Bureau of Statistics.
