Link contents
Since the beginning of time, people from diverse regions and professions have exchanged their knowledge amongst each other. Not only did the internet considerably simplify and expand international and interdisciplinary linking, but also its possibilities. Data can be sent to all corners of the earth within seconds, allowing German and American researchers, for example, to work on the same project, surgeons of a hospital to directly access the diagnoses of a general practitioner or a Sales Manager to retrieve sales data of a location in Singapore with just one click on the screen.
Contents require a common basis
Those working together on common data however, can only do so if this is uniformly structured, as different sources can only be evaluated quickly and efficiently if standardized key words exist which are valid for all parties involved.
This takes place within the Averbis Terminology Platform with the aid of ontologies and terminologies, thus complex term systems. These help to structure individual fields of expertise linguistically and formally. Ontologies lay the rules for the correlations of the individual terms, allowing conclusions to be drawn from the existing data, contradictions in the data to be recognized and missing knowledge to be automatically complemented from existing knowledge.
